The senior national team coach has dropped two players from Bayelsa United and El Kanemi Warriors from his squad ahead of the African Nations Championship
Following the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho from the camp of the Super Eagles B on Monday for his trip to Manchester City to sign a contract, two more players have now been dropped from the squad.
The duo of Mohammed Ajia and Reuben Ogbonnaya have been let go due to their low productivity, according to national team media officer Ben Alaiya.
In the absence of the trio, Stephen Keshi has invited the quartet of Obannu Erhune (Bendel Insurance), Ikeleji Bello (Bendel Insurance), Ewenike Achibi (Warri Wolves) and Mfon Udoh (Enyimba) to strengthen the squad ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa next month.
“We have been tracking these players for some time now and we want to give them a chance to prove themselves at a critical point like this and we hope they won’t disappoint,” assistant coach Daniel Amokachi said.
More players who fail to measure up to expectations will be asked to go by the weekend after Wednesday’s test match against Niger Tornadoes and another practice match that has been scheduled for Saturday both at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.
