NIGERIANS NEED TO BE ENLIGHTENED ON FIFA RANKING

Nigeria dropped three steps in the latest FIFA’s world ranking released yesterday but maintained it fourth position at the continental level.
Speaking yesterday on the development former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association, Alhaji  Sani Toro said Nigeria need to play top graded matches to improve on her ranking by FIFA as many factors are put into consideration by the world football governing body to arrive at its decisions.
“You need to enlighten Nigerians about FIFA’s ranking. They should know that many factors come to play in the ranking. For instance, the quality of matches played among other thing. We need to play top graded matches to improve our position,” Toro said.
According to him, what should be paramount in the mind of Nigerians now is how to ensure the Super Eagles adequately prepare for the World Cup in Brazil next year.
This, he said can be achieved if the Stephen Okechukwu Keshi led team is given all the needed support by the government to get the desired result.
“What have on ground what can take us to the top. We need to be more proactive in our decisions and planning,” the former scribe said.
