Nigeria Spends N150bn Annually On Medical Tourism

The National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist of Nigeria, AMLSN, Dr Godswill Okara has disclosed that Nigeria spends N150 billion annually on medical tourism due to the fact that the larger proportion of Nigerians have lost confidence in the health sector of the country.
Okara, who spoke at the annual National Executive Council meeting of AMLSN convened in Yola, Adamawa state capital, blamed the decline in the health sector on mismanagement of both human and economic resources.
AMLSN
Okara explained that according to reports at their disposal, Nigeria was ranked 4th among countries of the Commonwealth in 1960s to 70s stressing that some African countries were coming to Nigeria for health services because it had a vibrant health sector at that time. But he said the case today is the opposite due to the fact that since 1985, the health sector was left in the hands of unprofessionals to manage. [ThisDay]

Half-time: Chelsea 0 Southampton 1

Chelsea trail at Stamford Bridge, where a bizarre error by Michael Essien led to Jay Rodriguez scoring after only 13 seconds.
Essien, making his first Premier League start of the season, inexplicably lobbed the ball towards his own goal and over team-mate Gary Cahill, enabling Rodriguez to nip in and shoot past the exposed Petr Cech.
Chelsea pressed for an equaliser but struggled to create clear-cut chances before Oscar’s shot forced a save from Artur Boruc.
And Boruc denied Oscar again four minutes later, diving to his right to keep out the Brazilian’s header from Fernando Torres’ cross.
It was Oscar’s final contribution as he was then replaced by Frank Lampard in what appeared to be a tactical switch by boss Jose Mourinho.
Boruc then produced a fine stop to claw away Torres’ header as Chelsea began to pile on the pressure.
Juan Mata was recalled to the Blues’ starting line-up along with the fit-again Torres, while Essien’s surprise inclusion meant Lampard dropped to the bench.
The high-flying Saints, enjoying the club’s best start to a Premier League season, have won all six league games in which they have opened the scoring this term.
Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Essien, Ramires; Mata, Oscar (Lampard 42), Hazard; Torres.
Subs: Cole, Mikel, Schurrle, Willian, Ba.
Southampton: Boruc, Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Lallana, Rodriguez, Osvaldo.
Subs: Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Lambert, S Davis, Cork, Chambers, Hooiveld.

3 Signs You Could Be A S*X Addict

3 Signs You Could Be A S*X Addict

images (4)While the experts debate there is criteria for compulsive s*xual behavior, the symptoms include:
– s*xual impulses which are intense and appear beyond your control
– Using compulsive s*xual behavior(s) to escape other problems such as depression, anxiety, stress and/or loneliness
– Having trouble establishing or maintaining close, intimate relationships, even if you’re married or in a committed relationship
But just because you engage in raunchy talk or visit strip clubs, however, doesn’t mean you have an obsession with s*x. For some men a trip to a ‘gentleman’s club’ or talking s*x with their guy friends is merely a defense mechanism, according to Dr. Hokemeyer. “I find that men visit unclad bars in large measure out of peer pressure and to be ‘one of the boys.’ Rarely do I see patients visit these bars alone,” he says.
Nor does s*x addiction always equate to a high s*x drive. Some experts believe that s*x addicts get more satisfaction from the psychological triggers rather than the physiological pleasures of s*x itself. “Typically the s*x act itself is secondary to the hunt for s*x, the ‘closing of the deal,’ and the feelings of either guilt, shame, or elation that occur after the person achieves climax,” explains Hokemeyer.
How to Get Help
What most experts do agree on is that compulsive s*xual or “hypersexual” behavior can be extremely damaging to those it affects both directly and indirectly. If you feel that your preoccupation with s*x is running your life or pushing your partner, job, loved ones to the side — there is help. The aim of treatment is not to insist on abstinence but rather to suppress what’s deemed ‘unhealthy’ s*xual behavior.
In addition to consulting a mental health professional you can also take the anonymous route, with an organization such as s*x Addicts Anonymous. Whether classified a disease or not, s*x addiction is recognized, and real, and there is help.

UNN, ESUT Announce December 2 Resumption, Exam Dates

ESUT
Some universities have developed cold feet, or just tired of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which has kept government-owned universities in the nation shut for five months now. One of such universities is the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), which said academic activities would resume on Monday 2 December, two days ahead of the December 4 deadline given by the Federal Government to university vice-chancellors to reopen their universities, and for lecturers who have been on strike since July 1 to resume work or consider themselves sacked.
Both ESUT and UNN made the announcement about the resumption in separate statements today.
The Registrar of the UNN, Mr Anthony Okonta, made the announcement in a statement today, stressing that “normal academic activities would resume immediately.”
The statement directed students who had outstanding examinations for the 2012/2013 session to report to their respective faculties and departments in Nsukka and Enugu campuses.
The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), also called students back for academic activities in a similar statemet.
Registrar, ESUT, Mr Chris Igbokwe, advised students and academic and non- academic staff to report to the institution on 2 December.
According to the statement, students are advised to return to their campuses at Agbani and Enugu campuses as the second semester examination would commence on Monday, 9 December.
The Federal Government had in a statement issued by the supervising minister of Education Nyesom Wike on Thursday, directed all federal universities to resume work on or before Dec. 4, threatening to sack erring lecturers.

Why I Married Peter Okoye Despite The Fact He Is My Junior – Lola Omotayo

Why I Married Peter Okoye Despite The Fact He Is My Junior – Lola Omotayo

There has been a lot of talk and whispers about their marriage, the family issues and the fact that Lola is by far older than Peter Okoye has been trending. But why did she decide to marry someone who’s her junior?
Below is Lola Omotayo’s stand on their age difference… Lola, who was a Business Development Director at FKG2m a marketing agency in Lagos, had told the story of how she and Peter met and how the relationship started:
“My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P’Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry.
He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him ‘if you really want to know me, you have to find my number’. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history.” Lola, said to be in her 30s then and Peter in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference. Her reason:
“Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I’m like a 23-year-old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn’t base it on the age factor. He doesn’t make me feel like he’s younger than me.”

STRANGE: “I Was Forced To Self Service In Front Of Teammates” – David Beckham

Capture
Retired footballer David Beckham recently revealed that he was forced to self service in front of his teammates as part of his initiation into Manchester United’s youth team in 1991.
Beckham, who opened up about the incident in a documentary titled The Class of ’92, said the incident happened when he was just 16 years old. He said he was forced to stare at a calendar photo of eighties Reds soccer player Clayton Blackmore (pictured right) and pleasure himself, while his teammate watched, as part of an embarrassing hazing ritual.
“Everyone had an initiation that you had to go through on the youth team, that was one of the most uncomfortable ones. The fact that I had to look at Clayton Blackmore’s calendar and do certain things. I was embarrassed when I was saying it on camera let alone talking about it more. But it’s something that we all had to go through. It was definitely something I wouldn’t like to go through again!’ Beckham said
The Class of ’92, is a documentary about the generation of Manchester United stars who came of age two decades ago.
